Arrocería St. James (St. James Rice Restaurant)

In a tweet: Best rices I've tried in Madrid (and maybe in Spain), in a distinguished and pleasant restaurant in the heart of Madrid.

Summary
Concept Comment
Overall Score 9.1
Price per Person 65€. Including 2 beers (3.20€ each), white wine (a nice easy to drink Viñas del Vero Chardonnay -17€, score 9), 2 desserts and 2 peach liquors -to which we were not invited, despite the common tradition, 4€ each). Expensive for being rice (usually cheap), but worth the price.

Dishes: score, price and comment
Name Score Price Comment
Chipirones de anzuelo a la parrilla (Grilled squids "of the hook") 7.8 18€
Arroz Señoret (Gentleman Rice) 9 20€ It comes "clean", that is, with shelled shellfish, so it's ready to be eaten. It was really tasty, and at a perfect point of cooking (not hard, not too smooth.
Arroz con hongos boletus y foie (Rice with Boletus mushrooms and foie) 9.2 25€ This rice is "meloso", meaning it's between soupy and dry (creamy texture, but not because it has cream, but because of not letting all the water evaporate). This one was particularly great of taste and cooked to a perfect creamy point
Helado de chocolante blanco (White chocolate icecream) 7.50€
Tarta de Café Irlandés (Irish coffee cake) 8.00€

Service 9.5 They took a bit longer than expected to bring the starter, probably to give time to the rice to be cooked and not having to wait to much from the starter to the main.. Maybe we were too hungry... Apart from that, they were great.
Ambience 10 We were inside a cozy pleasant dining room; they also have a terrace (it looked to me as if they allowed smoking -which is forbidden inside-, so if you don't want smoking people around, make a reservation for the inside.
Quality 10 Absolutely great
Presentation 8
Menu variety 8.5 Great variety of rices and other dishes too
